How due dates affect student submissions
Students can always see assignment due dates in the assignment details and in the Instructions tab in the writing space.
- When late submissions are not allowed, students won’t be able to submit your assignment after the due date.
- When late submissions are allowed, students can still access the writing space and submit one late attempt.
What students see when late submissions are not allowed
- If the due date has passed and the student never began the assignment, the Start Writing button will be disabled, and a red clock icon will be to the right of the due date.
- If a student never began the assignment, the Start Writing button is disabled.
- If the student began writing but didn’t submit before the due date, they can open the writing space by selecting the Continue Writing button.
- Once they open the writing space, their document is read only.
- If a student submitted before the due date, the Due date appears with a clock icon in the assignment details.
What students see when late submissions are allowed
- When late submissions are enabled, students can still open the writing space after the due date.
- They can select Start writing to open the writing space, review their work, and select Submit once.
- A confirmation message will remind them that they can submit only once.
- After submitting, the assignment dashboard updates to show the Submitted status. The submission date and time appear with a red clock icon.
- The Edit submission button is disabled after the late submission is complete.
